It’s a classic movie cliché: You’re on a quest to find the missing person.
Or, at least, someone you can trust to look after you.
But this year’s version of The Lost Boys has gone beyond the conventional.
It’s got a dark and brooding edge to it, and its latest addition to the franchise – a fictionalised version of the 1980s – is a story about an American boy whose life has been shattered.
And if that’s not enough, there’s a twist.
This time around, you’re not a boy searching for a missing person, but an Australian family searching for their missing mother.
Forget that it’s a family film; it’s an Australian one.
The film tells the story of a couple who are struggling to understand what happened to their missing daughter, who was kidnapped in Sydney in 1980.
They’ve never spoken to her, but now they know her voice and they’re determined to find her.
They call her Ellie.
The Lost Boys stars Joel Edgerton, Olivia Munn, Emily Blunt, Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Jodie Foster.
Produced by Andrew Hetherington.
