New York’s parks are closing to allow for the arrival of spring in 2019.
The parks in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens are closed until March 1 for the new winter, with the parks in Queens slated to reopen the following week.
The Park District said in a statement Monday that “a majority of parks and recreation facilities in the Bronx will reopen for the spring season.
New York Harbor will reopen in the fall.”
The Park District did not provide any specific details on the locations or dates for the closures.
The district did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“New York City is home to some of the nation’s most beautiful parks, and our parks are the centerpiece of the city’s iconic skyline,” Parks Commissioner Yvette Dacey said in the statement.
“We are working hard to protect them and keep them open during this busy springtime.
We will be providing more information when we have more information.”
